So I was thinking of heading over to lepage park this weekend. Anybody water clarity / Fish activity recently?

Regardless of the water color there will be fish available. Fish plastics VERY slow and let them sit still between lifts. If water is high and dirty, fish very close to shore.

I second the slow presentation thing but don't discount good old crankbaits either, loud rattles=hogs in dirty cold water

My experience in fishing the John Day in high to very high water conditions is to work the sheltered areas and back waters. Areas that are normally excellent become very poor to non-existant. When the locals say "Its done blown out" it's time to turn around and go home. The I-84 bridge - east end and east shore for several hundreds south seem to work in high water conditions.

Drove over the mouth today on 84 on my way back from Pendleton. The river has a little bit of color buts looks fishable. I have been making that trek once week for the last 6 weeks and this is the best it's looked in a long time. Wouldn't you know it, the one time I don't drag the boat behind me the mighty Columbia looked like a mill pond from Umatilla all the way to Cascade Locks!! It drives me nuts to see the river that way and me without my boat!!
