I use to fish for crappie in vancouver but since moving to astoria I havn't been out. I know there are some good places for bass but haven't heard of crappie around here. Any ideas and how to fish them around here
Thanks

I heard there are plenty in the John Day River(not to be confused with the other John Day). April-May is the time to get them. I've never fished them myself, but I plan to as soon as the motor gets fixed. I've heard they're big in the John Day.
If you give it a try, please report back and let me know how you did.

Actually, I have never fished for pan fish around here. I have some relatives in Minnesota and I always fished pan fish when I was over there. I've heard about the big and plentiful crappie in John Day, but I never gave it a try. I've been meaning to try this Spring though.
I primarily go for the sturgeon and salmon around here. Occasionally I'll go for the trout. Sturgeon is my favorite. I've tried off of pier 39 a few times this month, but only got 1 bite and no fish.
I'd love to go fishing with ya. Hope you got a boat, because all I have is a crappy little lake boat.
