Some friends and i are going to Dorena Reservoir for the first time early Friday . I have been told that there is some grass down by the dam . How deep have anyone been catching Bass ? Is there only one boat ramp ? Other than that any help will be appreceated . Thank you in advance .

There are actually two boat ramps on Dorena. They are pretty much directly across from each other. Baker Bay is on the south bank and Rat Creek is on the north. Rat Creek is pretty primitive with no courtesy dock. I'd head to Baker Bay. Its a county park with good facilities. The water level is pretty high now, which floods the grass flats on the upper end of the lake. The lower end of the lake (down by the dam) steeper and deeper in general. I would try the grass flats, the fish should be moving up with this weather. The flat is pretty good size, but if you cover some water and find the right depth you can have some banner days. Big fish swim in that pond, so you want to come prepared. Leave your light line at home.

Shalom, I fished a Tourney down there at the first of the month and did VERY well on the grass. Let me just say, drop some cigar shaped worms and drag through the grass. There should be lots of fish on beds in the flats along with some really big piggies. Oh and the T we went five for 12.5 on Sat and then 5 for 18.43 on sunday. Oh yeah two of the fish on sunday were 5 lbs each. I know there are fish well over 7 and up to 10 in the lake. Good luck.
