heading to MT on thursday to fish the Missouri with Joe Bloomquist. Gonna be awesome (i hope) BIG BROWNS.
If anyone has any ideas on other places to fish either on the way out or back, or even better, knows where i should stop and shoot a turkey, let me know
I'll be sure to post some pics when i get back.

I don't know anything about Montana but just got done reading an excellent novel about fly fishing in MT.
It's called "Pale Morning Done" by Jeff Hull. It really made me want to go there

I don't know the seasons or the route you are taking. Bu if you go through Dillon I would fish Poindexter Slough. Hikr to the confluance of it and the Beaverhead then fish back to the truck. Can be really good stuff. There are other spots we fished as kids but I would have to kill you if I told you.

I wish I would taken a trip there while fuel was $1.20/gal. - now it'd break the bank to haul the boat over there.

I'm stuck to local fishing.

Heres a Missouri tip:
Drive to the east side of Holter damn to the dead end, park, get out and walk up river. You will find some a few nice runs to fish on your walk. When you reach the deadline cable(No boats above this point), continue upriver toward the dam approximately 100yds. You will be wading along the edge of a thick willow patch. At the very top end of the willows you can wade out and up to some very large rocks which you can stand on. You will see them mostly submerged. Stand on the rocks and cast toward the opposite bank, maybe just quartering upstream. Let your streamer sink, strip fast, and you be very surprised what you catch. I've stood on the rock for hours day and night(hint). Enjoy! I typically fish my 6wt with intermediate sink line and an assortment of big streamers. You may want to take a float tube this time of year for some excellent lake fishing.
