Welcome JohnOD! You will enjoy the time spent here. It is kind of a custom for new members to tell us a story about themselves. It can be about fishing or some other aspect of your life. It is not mandatory.........just if you feel comfortable in doing so.

If a story of some sort is customary you guys will have to wait till I start posting fishing reports to read one… that’s when I tell the good ones .

Instead how about some info about me? My name is John, I’m 48 years old and work in the residential construction field. I’ll be going by JohnOD here as I’m too lazy to type my last name. Bend has been my home since 1978. Been fly fishing since around 1980. Also like to do some big game & varmint hunting.

Fishing wise my real passion is the Central Oregon lakes. Crane Prairie and her trout is my favorite fishery with the bass on Davis Lake getting lots of my attention in the early season. The Lavas, East, Wickiup, Hosmer and a few others get the occasional visit.

On occasion I have been known to use controversial techniques like strike indicators, barbed hooks and even fluorocarbon! I’m 99% CR with the exception of hatchery steelhead & bass.

I do make the occasional pilgrnige to fish moving waters but find them less & less frequent as the years go by.

Oh man..........we have our work cut for us on this guy. Next thing you know we're going to find out that he doesn't smoke a pipe, shop exclusively at Orvis, OR use a bamboo rod. :help:

Just ribbin' you a bit. Welcome to the board and maybe when we get over that way for a flyfishing get together you'll be able to join us.

Welcome!
