This was a vintage rod

That is to bad. No amount of insurance could ever replace that rod. I can't imagine the disappointment. :sick:

Shoulda put the rod and tube inside a pvc tube... woulda never happened. :noway:

Even better than the regular (white) PVC is the black ABS plastic. It's substantially thicker. I think I remember getting a 10-foot section for around $10-12, which is enough for at least a couple regular 2-pc rods. Throw in a pair of end caps, and it's still way cheaper than an aluminum tube, and I can stand/stomp on it with my full weight with zero give.

Actually the guy holding the rod was the person he sent it to for some minor repairs.
