My father-in-law died this past January and left me a Wright & McGill bamboo fly rod. Has a date of 1938 with Stream and Lake stamped on the side. Just wondering what something like this might be worth? Looked on Ebay and saw some Granger rods but no Stream and Lake. Not sure if this is the right forum for this but I'm not a fly fisherman so thought I'd start here.

Wright and McGill took over the granger co after WWII. So my guess is that your rod is from the late 40's with an old surplus reelseat from the granger co. I am 90% sure the Lake and stream is the old Granger Champion, which was the lowest grade, which from WM/Granger was still pretty good. The length of the rod, number of tips, and condition will dictate the price. Short rods 7' or 7.5' get the top dollar and rods with two tips and origonal tubes always go for more $.
