View Full Version : mercury 25hp bigfoot
recently purchased 25hp merc 4stroke electric start. had a couple times when motor wouldnt turn over right away. it seemed like if I had throttle a little higher when I turned key it helped it start. Would that make a difference? I looked at fuel line apears to be O.K.

Doesn't sound too bad. You might want to take it in and have a pro take a look -- do you have warranty coverage? I have a manual (carbed) 25hp big foot and the only time I had any trouble it had a fuel blockage due to a small piece of metal; I couldn't have fixed it myself. Doesn't sound like the same problem, but there may be some residue that can be removed and increase fuel flow.
To answer your question, turning up the throttle can make a difference, but that's what makes me think there could be some kind of build up that's preventing solid fuel flow.
Good luck

sounds like it may the problem tks
I have the same motor if you are putting preasure inward on the key when you are trying to start it you are probably flooding it. the key works the choke.
