Hey all, my name is Kyle and I am new to Ifish. Anyways, I am originally from Central Oregon and do quite a bit of fly-fishing back home. Since I have been attending OSU I thought I would try out some of the rivers around here to fish. I tried the Alsea a while back for some winter steelhead and did pretty well when I was out around there, but my question is regarding upcoming springers on their way up the Willamette.
I have heard that some places along the South Santiam are pretty good later on into April and May for springers. I just wanted to know if anyone could send me some information about where to head to catch some springers/Summer Steelhead. I would be greatly appreciated, Thanks guys

No Problem!
Ill start off by talking about my first trip to the Alsea River. I took off to the river early, with a buddy of mine in the middle of March. We got to the river at about 8 a.m. Anyways, I noticed some other fly-Fishers using indicators, and a long leader close to about 8ft.They were using small bright egg patterns as well. I had a bunch of egg patterns myself from fishing the Rogue earlier the year before for steelhead. The water at this time was up a little bit due to the heavy rains we had a couple days before.
As I walked the river I saw some headwater in front of some rapids. I stripped out some line and casted up stream. As my wieghted line began to sink...I waited nothing on the first pass. I stripped out some more line and roll casted up stream, again I waited and then hesitation in the line. I set the hook, and there she was my first Alsea Steelhead. As I got the Hatchery fish in it was displaying its river colors. After a quick picture I returned the fish back to the river and continued to fish for another couple hours hooking up to 2 more fish that day.
