Any Suzuki DF140 jet owners? I'm looking into swapping my Yamaha 115 Jet for a Suzuki DF140 Jet. I have an 18 ft. North River that is rated for 100hp tiller steer, so the DF140 at 98hp (Jet) would be about the max I could hang on it, and the weight difference between the two is about 5 lbs.
The reason I am looking is that while I love Yamaha, and the 115 is adequate, I'm not entirely happy with the performance in some circumstances and I think the extra 20hp from the Suzuki would make up the difference.
Anyhow, I'd like to hear some experiences if any...

reelfine,
I am running that motor on my new 18' Flatbottom and really like it. I have run several 115 Yamaha 4-strokes but always on vee-bottom sleds. The motor is really quiet and has a very good hole shot. I am running a stainless impeller in mine. If you are ever close to Roseburg and would like to run mine you are welcome. You will definetly notice the 25 extra horsepower without any additional weight.

Hey Brian, I tried to send you a PM, but it says you are not accepting private messages...
Anyhow, thanks for the offer, if I am in the area I will let you know.
Having run the 115 Yamahas on v-sleds, if you had to do it again, would you use the 140 over the 115? I don't know how they compare in price, but at 140 vs. 115 for nearly the same weight, the power to weight ratio has to be way higher for the 140. If the price is right, it seems like the thing to do.

I wish I had the DF140, I have a DT140 on my 18.5' forward helm sled and love it, I would go for the 140 again if I had the choice, Seem to be the perfect fit for my boat.

I would probably trust this guy's recommendation.
I think that he knows a thing or two about motors.
And, Suzuki isn't his primary brand, so this should really count for something.
