Greetings,

Well the original plan was to 'toon the McKenzie from Harvest Lane to Armitage, but a number of utility trailer issues torpedoed the plan. So, a friend and I decided to bank it. We fished around Deerhorn and had quite a day. More than 30 trout between us in about four hours. Mostly holdover planters, but several redsides to 12 inches and one small cuttie. All were taken on size 12 black caddis or a rubber legged prince nymph in size 10. Sorry for the lack of photos, but in my mad dash to get out of the house I forgot both my cell phone and the camera.

Incidentally, the March Browns were popping just about everywhere we went, but the fish seemed to be keying on the caddis for some reason. Caddis were also hatching in near epic proportions, but the fish definitely preferred the caddis over the March Browns. Strange, but true.

Tight lines,

thanks for the update. I miss fishing that river and the Middle Fork. Two great trout streams on the west side of the mountains!
