Hi All,

If you don't want to see pics of a rinky-dink project, then this isn't the post for you. I couldn't sleep and just finish a small project so thought I would post it.

The problem: Have '99 merc 9.9 4 stroke with TR-1 and the handy-dandy trolling tach...the question is where to mount the darn thing. There did not seem to be a good place to mount the tach on the motor that did not include the removable cowling. If I put it on the cowling, whenever I took the darn thing off it would have a 'leash'...and an expensive one at that. I could have mounted to the boat...but that had trade-offs I did not like. For the longest time I just let the thing sit on the transom, but figured I was asking for a problem...but no good solution hit me (must have had brain in neutral... )

So as I was working on other projects that included making custom brackets it hit me. :bricks:

First, I had to make a template of a bracket that looked good...

Then drill holes and put slight bend in the bracket (picture of my brake...yeah, I know WAAAYYYY over kill for this little project  )

Here is the bracket prior to painting next to the template

Primer, paint, and install the finished product!

Now I will see my tach easily, it is mounted to the kicker in a way that does not create a leash, and should stay out of harm's way...I hope.

As a point of curiosity, do you guys enjoy seeing dinky little projects posts like this one?

I do but then again I like watching all those chopper shows to see the metal work and I don't ride bikes.

Next project is to make a nice little box to pipe that nice warm water from the kicker to...aahhh, nothing like good warm water to wash those cold hands in  Then I might to have actually make something worthy of the brake :ooo:
