I am looking for some help from someone creative to attach a kicker bracket to the back of my boat. It's a fiberglass boat with a funky back end. The boat shop I took it too didnt want to go through the hassle, but said it could be done. I'm willing to pay a fair price for materials and time. Here are some pics of the back of the boat and the bracket I have.

I need this:

to attach to this:

At this point I don't really care which side of the boat it goes onto. The motor is only an 8hp 2-stroke so it's not a real heavy motor. If anyone can help or point me in the direction of someone who can I'd sure appreciate it! :help:
I've seen another boat like mine that had a similar bracket on it so I know it's possible. I guess I should have taken a closer look  Thanks guys!

Without seeing how easy it is to access the inside of your transom, it is hard to say. You have plenty of room on the outside. Looks as if it should be a piece of cake as long as you can access that area. I would make a metal backing plate for the inside. Either tapped with thread locker or through bolted with Nylox nuts. Just make sure to keep the bracket square to the waterline and you should be fine!

It's probably hard to tell from the picture, but corners of the transom aren't flat. That's where the problem lies. There are a couple of wierd angles on it. Accessing the area shouldn't be all that difficult, from what I'm told. Any help is appreciated! Jason

I don't have the time to do this and it looks very time consuming. Try Motion Marine they may be able to fabricate something to work it won't be cheap. These type of projects always take 3 times as much time as you think. It is a one off job if you were doing multiple brackets the cost would be less per bracket because the first one will be the hardest. If you could find a retired machinst fabricator that is bored that would be your best bet.

The biggest problem I see is with that flare at the top, it is most likely just fiberglass with no real support in it. The lower flat portion would most likely be a heavy piece of marine plywood inside for the transom that is what you need to attach to, but it looks like it is too low. It looks like you need to make a bracket for the bracket. My thought would be to make a standoff bracket that would extend up to the proper height to mount the kicker bracket too. I could be all wet with out looking at it. I have done a fair amount of fabrication and if you would like to bring it by I would give you some advice but again you would have to do the work. Good luck.

Here's a info story on mounting a kicker on a similar style boat using an "offset bracket". I'm sure it involves a lot more than what you are looking for but it might give you some ideas.

P-ride that Evinrude looks great on the back of that boat .. About 2 years ago I saw a boat exactly like yours set up with a kicker and I talked to the guy as he was going by down at Freds marina. He was an Ifisher but I don't know his name. Maybe he will see this thread and respond . I haven't seen him on the water yet this year, but if I do I will try to get some info from him.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies! Gundog that's what I was thinking about making a bracket to mount the bracket. The upper part is just fiberglass and no real support. I may take you up on the offer to look at it tho and see what you think. GSD that bracket looks like it might just work. I would not use the bracket I have and wouldn't be able to raise and lower it, but at this point I just want the kicker on the back of that thing  I'm gonna talk to a friend of mine that has some experience with welding and see if he can build it.

Hey Landshark! I think the Evinrude fits the boat perfectly! And with my Johnson kicker it would be complete! Let me know if you hear anything. BTW when are we hooking up for some springers! Talk to you soon!
