Had a question about redoing the Zolotone in my Willies drift boat. How do you prep surface? I pressure washing enough? I assume you need primer or not? How much primer and Zolotone do you commonly use to redo boat? How many coats do you need of each? What do you use to shoot this stuff on? Where is the closest place to Albany that has the Zolotone? :help:Also where do you get those protectors that go on the end of my wood db oars? I appreciate any and all info.
Thanks
Damien,
I don't know about the Zolotone but would probably call Willies in Central Point. I just purchased a new Willie and took my wood oars to a place in Tualatin and had them tip the oars in Line X. Works better than the slip on covers as water can't get behind it. I think Rhino lining would be the same. They charged me $30.

What color Zolie is it? ('cause some colors are harder than others to apply)
Is it worn or scratched to bare alum?
IF it isn't worn to bare alum, lightly scuff (the old Zolie) and spray right over the old Zolie...no priming needed.
You'll need a pressure pot to spray Zolatone...
KT is right about the presure pot. Just watch how much presure you use to the pot or it will take a lot of Zollie to do the job :bigshock:. When I painted my wood DB with Zollie the first quart didn't cover much as I had to much presure to the pot. :smash: :smash: :smash: I helped prepare some old alum. siding to paint at the gun club and we washed it down with some sort of cleaner mixed with water, don't remember what it was. Call around and you can probably find out what you can use to clean it with so you don't have to sand it.

PS--- on the tips of the oars you could glass them also Worked good on my wood ones.
