I wanted to take my two kids trout fishing this Sunday before hunting season starts. My daughter is 6 and my son is 3. We’ve taken a few trips to Paulina, East Lake, and Pine Hollow the past two years and have done OK. I was thinking of taking them to Timothy Lake for rainbows since it’s close to home and I can use my boat, which helps keep them in my sight. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to fish Timothy in September? I have all the standard trolling gear with downriggers plus powerbait, worms, eggs, flies, plugs, and spinners. I’m just hoping for some help on a general area to start and which technique.

Thanks,
Ken

I haven't fished Timothy Lake this late in the season, but it sounds like a good idea -

I've always had more luck still-fishing than trolling. Anchor off some rocky shore ... try half a worm and nothing else (takes a while to sink)

The brook trout are the real prize up there. Tasty ! Baby-crawdad-fed. Throw out a crawdad trap, they're great entertainment for kids ~ ~ ~

good luck !
