Hooked on fishin

I hate to tell you all about this one but its pretty funny, at my expense. I've had a 21 1/2' inboard Trophy for just short of 2 years. The first year I took it out 52 times, so I thought I new my boat well. A week ago Friday I called my wife about 2pm and suggested we sleep on the boat that night. You know, get the right spot the night before, had nothing to do with breaking in the boat finally. Dash home at 5:30, load the boat, hook up and get to Chinook Landing by 7. Take the tie straps off, feeling a sence of anticipation that has nothing to do with fishing, back the boat down, jump in the boat to drive it off the trailer. Turn the key, it won't fire, try again and again and again, Damn. Check the gas gauge which should show half a tank, it shows empty, Damn again. Pull the boat out, strap it down and hit the first gas station, no cash, who cares, put it on the card. I need to get this stinkin boat in the water before she changes her mind, does not like the idea about anchoring in the dark. Pull into Chinook landing, take off straps, back down, jump it, OK here we go, won't start, try again and again. First thought is find something anything and throw it, only thing I could find was my wife, better not do that. Head down, total rejection filling my body, leave the ramp for home. Call a friend, he comes over. We check everything, gas going to carberator, I mean everything. The volts are showing real low, find the vhf has been on sence the week before. Decide the the batteries to low to fire the boat. Thats the problem, put the charger on, try an hour later, now 10:30, won't start. Decided to leave the charger on all night. Get up at 7am, (let the neighbors sleep in a little)turn the key, won't start. I'm lost,I've never ever had one problem with this boat. I run to the local mocha shop to drown myself in caffin. While I'm gone my buddy leave a message on the recorded "I'm sure you've thought of this, just incase check the shut off switch". I've never even touched the shut off switch. Some buddy else has and they got about 30 gallons of gas. Well the boats still not broke in but we did make it to the river by 10am and came home with 2 fish, and I know what the boat sounds like when the shut off switch is off.

Oh the travails of the romantic http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif . But hey Tom that kind of problem, not being able to get it started, happens to all of us guys on occassion, so don't let it hurt your confidence http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif . It'll be up and working in no time. It's just hard to perform under such pressure. Or it's not hard; depends on how it's looked at. Hey, I'd be a little worried if I were you actually. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif Good story TT. - RT - BTW, did you remember to bring your "Don't be knockin' if this boat's rockin'" sign along?

Hey, don't they have that new "additive" to help get it started? I hear once it's started it's hard to shut it off until the additive burns through the system. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif But, I am young, so I haven't had a servicewoman sneak a shutoff switch in on me yet...muh ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Funny story.
