I was fishing on the Salmon river (down by Lincon city) and this guy came down with a home made spinner that was hot! He was able to get kings to bite when nothing was moving at all. Can anyone tell me anything about making spinners ??

Well Kerry spinner fishing for nooks i think is trickier then metal head. But a great book you can find every thing you need to know about spinner is called spinner fishing for salmon and steelhead. By JED DAVIS. By far he is most knowledgeable person about spinner fishing around. He is the father of spinner fishing. And the book is layed out nicely and very informative. So did you happen to see what color was the spinner or was it a wider blade or more of a normal spinner blade? And if you don’t mind me asking how was the fisherman fishing the spinner was he from a boat or bank and what was the style of retrieve.
Spinner fishing is a lot of fun most of the time and specially for summer steelhead you get such thundering strikes.

Good luck

To bad the guy was on the other side of the river or he probably would have showed you the magic bait. Spinners size, color and prestation of it are the keys to a good spinner fishing. To add color to your spinners just add some colored tape to the back side of the blade or some paint drops. Tape is easier and can be carried with you while you fish.
From the sounds of it he was casting a lighter spinner since he had to add weight to the line to cast it. The black tape is probably black surgical tubing with pencil lead stuffed in it. The large unweighted spinners will require weight unless your in a boat. tee spinners are a large multi colored spinner that usually come with multicolored blades. I would look at those to see if you can find a match. Good luck
