Fished Sekiu today for silvers. Fishing was slow for hatcheries with lots of natives mixed in. One of the double headers had me on one side releasing a native while my partner is into another native....Well not enough pliars to go around, anyway I hear oh **** that hurt....Whoops now I have to release my fish and my partners, which is now attached to his hand flopping in the boat as he tries to restrain it (DARN ROOKIES). He had the pliars so, I quickly grab the knife and start cutting any line near his hand and release his, mine and my tackle...ARG. Dam he was tough, buried it up to the hook bend and it didn't come back out and he didn't even flinch as I pulled it out. Lots of really cool blood for awhile. Wind came up and chased us off the water at noon with only a couple to show for our efforts. Came home to hear PA has been red hot this week with nice fish.....I just love that long drive....NOT
Put another memorable salmon trip in the books due to the finger injury.

Oouch! Hey Marty, is the PA fishing as far out and as deep down as it was for you and I at Sekiu earlier. It looks so fishy right off the town "spit" (not the chewer, the rock pile whatyamacallit that extends well out into the straight). I was wondering if you get them in pretty close when they're moving thru? And shallower? Has the outside Pen bite come on any with the recent rains? Thanks. - Steve

Some years ago in the north country, I took a Boy Scout troop trout fishing near Kamloops. While on shore, we could hear a boy making that sound, that special sound, that only a well embedded hook in flesh can bring out. As thier boat neared shore, we could see the howler was holding his collapsable fishing rod out at arms length, and the line ran from the rod tip, straight to his nose. I don't know what he was thinking, maybe just his fishermans reflexes, but he kept that line singing tight. One of the other boys in the boat got the bright idea to help the howler out, so he drew his knife from the scabbard, and gave the line a good hack. Never could teach him how to sharpen a knife. Lots of really loud howling then. I got him to pose for a picture with me, the spinner hanging from his nose. The rest of the troop then tried to hold him down and extract the spinner from his nose, but after a while, we sent him to a doctor in town befor he scared all the fish in the lake.

The fishing from PA can be excellent from the beach casting crocs and lead minnows. It is closed 3/4 mile from land while boat fishing. Fish have been down deeper near PA, also I hear of some of the smaller streams stacked with silvers. The rivers are still low, but they have started to be forced upstream. I took two weeks vacation starting 9/24 if that is any indication of my expectations http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I hope to fill my six fish coho limit several times ho ho ho and mix in some King pigs. suuuuuuuuoooooooeeeeeeeeyyyy bugle some large bulls for kicks eeeeerrrraaaaaww ehr ehr ehr ehr
