Greetings - I am new to the forum. I have looked through several of the posts and am impressed with the comments and help that seems to be available. I have a question on Humminbirds new 900 series. I have the 937c unit on my 19' Jetcraft. I installed it myself and have been using it for about 2 months, and at this point I am not impressed with their technology. It does a poor job of marking fish and showing correct depth readings. Does anyone have any experience with these units, or any problems? Thanks in advance.

Welcome!
There's a good troubleshooting guide on the Humminbird web site http://www.humminbird.com/generic2.asp?ID=412 you might find the answers there.

It sounds like an installation problem at this time. Inconsistent bottom lock, and false readings, is usually from the transducer not being position properly or the gain and NR settings are wrong. You want to make sure the angle is correct and that it is low enough to "catch" clean water. Also make sure you didn't put the ducer behind a strake or some other object that would create a disturbance in the water. Does it occur at all speeds?

If you are confident of the install - then it is most likely is a bad ducer or head unit. Every brand has "out of the box" lemons and you may have gotten one.

I've only heard positive comments about the new 900 series units (with the exception of installation related problems).
