I just bought a '76 Valco with a pump... I pulled the pump's shoe off to inspect the impeller and the blades are flat. I am trying to get it off... I am on hour 5 of this adventure! I tried tapping it, using a propane torch, WD-40... nothing! I found this Frozen Impeller (http://www.outboardjets.com/FAQ.htm#How%20do%20you%20get%20a%20frozen%20impell er%20off%20of%20the%20driveshaft) and it says that you may have to drill out the brass key... I have done this and I still can't get the impeller to move! There is still a little of the key left, but I have 80% of it drilled out. Any help?? Thanks!

Can you get a steering wheel puller or a harmonic balancer puller around it? Might try one of those if you don't know someone with one they can be rented.

First thing is a propane torch will probably run out before it gets hot enough to do any good, you are going to have to melt out the plastic sleeve that is in there. You need a real torch to get it hot enough to do any real good, if you need PM me and I will pull it for you.

Thanks for all the help! I utilized a 3 arm puller that Auto Zone has in their free tool loaner program. Popped it right off.... That was a pain in the rear!
