Kerry, I'm curious if you can ascertain whether the nets were in the lower Hoh or not while you fished it. A few weeks ago I fished it with Marty right after the awaited rain and we didn't get a bite, nor did guide Jim Mansfield with his clients that day. He found out later that the Indians had put in their nets near the mouth of the river out of regulated schedule to get the rain induced new fish coming up. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif That's a tough situation to deal with! - RT

I don't know exactly how the State/Hoh agreement goes but if it is like the Queets the fishing schedule is on a "days per week" rather then a fixed schedule. If the river is blown out on the usual fishing days they are made up later in the week. I would also venture to guess that if fishing is expected to be better during a part of the week that is not usually fished that the schedule is adjusted. Again, not positive if that is State/Hoh agreement.

Thanks Letty. I forgot one of your proper rules; know your info before you type. I repeated what I thought about "out of schedule" w/o checking it out for verification. They could have been within proper rights. We were fishing a great stretch pretty low on the river expecting fresh fish to be moving thru. I wish I could have nicely talked them into netting just above where we were fishing! http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif - Steve

Since I am close or within a half tank anyway I will give it a shot in search of a big ole fall king trying to sneak in on me http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Friend fished the Sooes yesterday with his flyrod and didn't catch anything, but did see 3 fish landed. The fish police told him of a 40 lb female that had to be released the day before (male retention only). Also the silvers are in the bay jumping getting ready for the big move.....OH darn http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif Anybody seen my raincoat

RT after fishing 2 days I drove to the mouth (what a senic place) and yes nets were almost all the way from bank to bank. On my way out I drove to Mora and they were netting the Quillayute also (high tide) The Sol Duc had a lot of dark silvers jumping but that rain did not bring any fresh fish in unless most were netted while entering the river. I am not sure but I think they will net less October?? I hope the nets are not in 24 / 7 / 364

Marty & Kerry, is it possible to fish below where the netting is taking place w/o undue problems? How about saltwater just off the mouths? Too rough of access & water? - Marty, I saw another one of your raincoats at the grocery store yesterday http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif . - Steve

Even if you put in above the reseveration and went down and out that is very very rough water at the mouth. Sinking a boat is not worth it! So I have to say no way possible with any of the boats I have. Yes the nets are right at the mouth and the big surf is next.

Kerry is right!! that is some nasty water below the nets... big surf. The Saltwater fishery is closed so you can't go there either. Just have to hit it when the nets are out. I am off to Sekiu again in the morning...hope the boat goes all the way this time http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif. I will take a couple extra raincoats and cut out some eye holes this time and leave the rods in pole holders during the passing squals. I saw letty say the hoh posted their nets schedule....I need a copy of that!!

Has anyone called WDFW and asked for information about the Hoh/State salmon fishing agreement for 2000? Is this information that they would give out?
