anyone know where i can get a "Motor Cover Upper" like here??? (http://www.tohatsu.com/tech_info/own_man_pdfs/8_98.pdf)
i need one for a tohatsu 9.8. all i know is that tohatsu told me to go through the local dealer and found they want to charge over $200!!! that's too much for me. i've got a hole and crack covered with layers of tape and would like to fix it appropriately.
any advice on this one would be appreciated. thanks.

You can do a search online for used parts. Gotta pay shipping tho.
You might try fiberglassing the crack to repair it.Even older aluminum cover can be fiberglassed.

I have a friend that does plastic/glass repair for Beaverton honda. It's kinda a side deal for him and he doesn't charge much I don't think. If this is someting you might be interested in I can see what he could do. He does good work. Definately way cheaper than buying a new one.

i know it's still taped over because i didn't want to retape it. but to give you a better idea, the hole is only 3 in X 3 in if that + a small crack.
