I have an older Hamilton 3 stage and a 351 Ford. My top end is 4400 RPM/cruise of 3700 RPM and have been told I have "standard" pitch impellers. I would like to improve my fuel economy and have been told that changing to "coarse" pitch impellers will lower my top end to 3900 RPM and lower cruise to around 3200 RPM.
Has anyone been through this? I've heard KEM Equipment or L&J Hydraulics are sources of different impellers?
Please help!
Thanks,
TP

I did just that it got out the hole better picked up 2 mph at a lower rpm I like it just fine you could just have your old impeller repitched good luck on the project

I'm assuming you have a Hamilton 773? The current Kodiaks are a knock off of this pump. KEM is the place to go if you need anything in regards to your pump. What pitch of impellors are you running? That's the place to start. They may just be dull and you don't need a different pitch. Are they brass or stainless? I have an extra #5 impellor laying around if you need one. More details and we can hopefully help you out. The number is stamped on the back of the impellor next to the keeper key.

KEM offers a new replacement intake grate (tapers to a an edge of the tops of the grate bars). They also can help you with impellor choices. You can really improve your pump performance. I replaced the grate and went with a different rear impellor based on KEM's input. Performance gain was significant.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess I will pull the pump apart and see what # impellers I have. I read on KEM's website about the different pitch for the rear impeller and the new intake grate.
What is the difference between brass and stainless?
