The heart transplant board gave to go ahead to do a transplant on my dad. Because of his condition they moved him to the top of the list for a donor. Wow!
My dad has had congestive heart failure for a while now. It has gotten worse and worse. Last Thursday he was taken by life flight from Chico California to San Francisco medical center for more advanced care and to keep him alive on a daily basis until he runs through all of his tests.
He is currently 76 and I was shocked when they told me he may be a candidate for a heart transplant. It will depend on all of his tests and if his body can take it. So far so good. I am asking for prayers for my dad and the family. I just went through the death of my girlfriend’s dad a few months ago. God must have a plan or a lesson.
Thanks and God Bless

Here is an update I "mined" from LIG:
After waiting over a month my dad of 76 has received a heart transplant at UCSF. It has been 48 hours and he is already taking very short walks with the assistance of his nurses. He is eating and is getting his great sense of humor back. I am sure the nurses like that . Obviously he is not out of the woods for a long time, but he is better off then he was. After losing my mom three years ago I was not ready to lose my dad quite yet. I thank God and the individual who was kind enough to be a donor . Even though the person chose to be a donor It makes me sad for the family who lost a loved one and there is some guilt because they lost and we were given a great gift.
Up until all of this had happened, it never really sunk in what a person can give when they donate organs. During this ordeal I had to take my drivers license out to see if I am a donor. I am, but if I was not I would have changed that.

Thanks DBA for the inquiry. My dad is doing well after his transplant. a week after the transplant he was able to go to a condo they are using while in SF. There residence is in Chico CA. He had to go back in for an elevated BP. This is normal according to the doctors. He has had two heart biopsies and both have come out normal. He had a catheter to his heart done today and I do not have the results yet. At 76 they said he is healing much faster than normal because of his good health habits prior to the transplant. After watching doing reseearch and watching video clips online of a transplant :bigshock: I am really surprised how fast he is recovering as well. That hurt me just watching it.
Thanks for all the prayers. I wish I had more time to come in and read in this forum.
Life with God is much better.
