Oakie, sorry to hear about that. I got tired of worthless individuals trying to convert my treasured fishing stuff into crack pipes or whatever. I keep my boat in the garage. It barely fits in the 2-1/2 car garage diagonally and it takes a real effort to get it in or out. As a result the garage is useless most of the time.....
The good news is that none of my stuff ends up in the hock shop anymore. If they really want it they can break into my garage, if they get past my dog, my buddy, Smith and I will be waiting for them.
As far as the 4th mate goes.... don't know what to say. I bet your boat is a lot more important to you than it is to her. Try putting some of her make-up or her cell phone in the boat. That might change her priorities...........
The bend is your friend!

Good advise. In the middle of the night a few years ago I had a 7.5 HP honda outboard stole off the boat.. Boat insurance would not cover it because it was not listed on the policy. Homeowners insurance would not cover it because I did not have a "watercraft rider" as it was told to me. No amount of argueing would convince them it was a motor not a watercraft. They decided against my claim and it was final. I argued my guts out and was basically told to go suck an egg. Read the Philadelphia lawyer double talk in the policy very close.
I really hate insurance companies.

Ok, first there was the thief that tried to steal my 9.9 4-stroke off my boat a couple of nights ago. Fortunately, his attempt was foiled by the alarm on my 4-runner. Now, I am getting insurance for the boat and motor....duh. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif Secondly, yesterday, while taking the boat out of the river, the bow line clip slipped off somehow. I told my fourth mate....she used to be first mate, to go get the boat, as it was floating down river with just the dog aboard http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif She said she couldnt SWIM and as 4th mate, its wasnt her job. After stripping off almost all of my clothes (left on panties)I dove into the icy cold water and rescued my boat and the confused dog http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif This was all at 8:30 in the morning so the swim was NOT refreshing. Still, I love fishing http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Had my little Merc stolen off the boat in the middle of the day. Called the old insurance man (homeowners policy). He told me there was a two-fifty deductable with max coverage of 1000.00(net 750.00). he asked what it was going to cost me to replace. I told him around 1000.00 to 1100.00. He waived the dedct. and sent me a check for 1000.00. Find a fisherman that moonlights as an insurance agent and things get better!!!

For an insurance agent that fishes a lot, call mgr. Joe Riter of Leonard Adams Ins. agency in Beaverton, OR. He sells more boat and liability ins. to fishing guides around the NW than anyone I know. Tell him Steve Hanson suggested to give him a call about it. Tell him about the Ifish BB too. - RT

Thanks for all the interesting replies! Its just horrible how hard it is to keep a small motor on ones boat these days. The insurance has now approved my boat AND motor for the policy, but now I am a bit leary and need to question them a bit more regarding the fine print. The cost is $136 per year. Thanks again for all the input here http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif Until the policy is in effect, I the motor is decorating the dining room.
