ELK HUNTING !!

Has anyone heard anything about the forest , and hunting season being closed ??? Man , this is going to bum me out , i`m leaving Thursday , they better let us know whats going on ..

The only mention I've seen on the topic is a short news article on the Westfly web site. See the article in the "News" section on the front page.

Doesn't sound as if they're contemplating a state-wide closure of recreation in the forests, but they're clearly worried about the fire danger.

Check out ODFW's web site under News/Bulletins. They said they would have the latest info there. I am an avid bowhunter and am watching this closely. Just be lucky you didn't have a guided Montana hunt, you would be SOL. Tight lines...uh...bow strings. -Gary

I just stopped at NW Regional ODFW office in Clackamas and was told there have been no closures yet due to dry weather. They are having meetings twice a week and reviewing the situation. The department of Foresty has closed a lot of gates limiting access, but they were quick to point out they have no controll over that.

They recommended checking with the deptartment of foresty for the areas you are headed for to check and see if it has been gated off.

I am still doing my rain dance.
