I just read the for sale post on king eggs and do you really pay $8.50 a pound for eggs down in Oregon? There are years where I catch no legal hens or season is closed all together for species and I end up having to buy eggs to cure myself. I never pay more then about $3.00 a pound and that's for eggs fresh out of the fish. Am I getting a deal? I've always paid this much, I must be getting a hellacious deal. Or are eggs just more expensive down in Tillamook as opposed to Tacoma? Just curious. This internet thing can really lead you to some interesting info you'd never have learned before.....Thanks...

Jerry, $8.50 per pound is getting pretty steep, even for Tillamook 'nook eggs, which I think are the best there is! In recent years I think they went at about $6 per pound. Since they are great eggs I guess the market price has gone up. What type of eggs do you get for only $3 a pound? - RT

Loose chum, need to buy a bucket with them though. http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Just kidding
Heck you can buy the whole fish from the natives for $1/lb if you through in a social beer. Hear about it all the time from people who are around when they pull their nets. Sad but true

Hey RT, these eggs are top quality, straight out of the fish. These are mostly king eggs, but you sometimes get silver eggs. There's a few of us who know some netters (I graduated with a few native americans) and place my orders with them. I don't get old smelly eggs, mine are fresh out of the fish and ready to be used. No fresher then if I had caught the fish myself.
Hmmmmm, in Poulsbo huh? I'd say try over near the Skok and see what they're selling. Just make sure you buy fresh out of the fish. If you buy from buckets that are laying around you get what they put in there. Sometimes it's stacked with little silver skeins or week old eggs (which don't cure well).
But, connections do help, I just never realized that people actually took orders and sold them as a business. My Dad and I have always put in our order for eggs and will stop by to see how they're doing from day to day until we get out fill of eggs.
Good luck....
