There is a popular hogline (anchored boats) off the mouth of the Sandy R. nearby. Also look around the general area to see other lines. - RT

Talked to the fish checker today at about 2PM at Chinook Landing. She reported 17 chinook for 49 boats. Not bad numbers for mid-August. I haven't fished this particular area (out in front of Chinook Landing and up to the Sandy) before -- what is the depth of the water where the boats are anchoring and is the anchoring method standard columbia salmon anchoring (I'm assuming yes -- no major currents or particularly deep water)?

Full shift spent out on the first line out of Chinook Landing. Started out as if everyone was gonna have a fish, 3 for 10 boats by 6:30AM. Then only 3 fish the rest of the day. None for me. Best thing I got was a beautiful sunset. Day is done.....must get rest for sun.

Go straight north (towards Washington) and around the eastern tip of the island. You'll find boats anchored in various lines all the way down to the I-205 bridge. Good reports have been received from the lower end, around the dolphins(tall wooden piers). Don't set up to close to other boats until you get used to the anchoring techniques used in the area. You can fish successfully in many areas from the I-205 all the way up to Bonneville. Most boaters are pretty friendly unless you anchor up in a spot that will hinder the landing of a fish when they break loose and float/motor downstream or you use an inadequate anchor or anchoring technique. Good luck.
