As I look over the IFISH chapel I see a steady flow of Brothers and Sisters wanting help in Prayer. And many times in this instant fix, pop it in the microwave era we live in, I had to learn many times God dose not move in this manner. Many will give up or loose faith, and I MUST SAY DEAR BELOVE DO NOT LOOSE FAITH. God hears your prayer and he will answer, It will be yes, no or wait!.
Now then he will not answer if his children are rebellious for in Isa 1:15 God says "When you make many prayers, I will not hear". So 1st you might want to see if you are walking next to your Lord, and not walking by yourself, The reason he will not answer is because with no answer, you will wonder why, and this is the first step back to his closeness. But a child of God should expect answers to prayers, God means every prayer to have an answer.
Many times Gods answer is sometimes "wait"., He may delay the answer because we are not yet ready to receive the gift we crave. Remember Gods delays are not Denials.
There is now way to know why GOD sometimes delays the answer and other times answers "before we call" (Isa, 65-24). I will never forget the true story about a true man of prayer named George muller wo prayed sixty three years and eight mounths for a friend salvation and Georges prayer was finally answered his friend was saved 2 days after Georges death.
Also dont forget beloved that Satan throws up great restance to all prayers,(Dan, 10:13) Many times we really need to pray with out ceasing and dont forget Satan will battle our prayers, there is a War in the heavenlies when one prays. And if we are supose to "wait' it may be that he plans a much larger blessing than we can imagined, and one which involves other lives as well as our own.
God may just simply say "NO" And to a "want it all now " Generation, that answer hurts, but God said no to Paul many times (2 Cor,12-8,9) many times God says no because its do to our ignorance or selfishness in asking, "for we know not how to pray as we ought" (Rom 8:26) Elijah was a great man of prayer, and sometimes he had "no" for a answer.
We as Fathers would not give our babys a razor when he ask for it, because soon the boy will grow up into a man and then find the razor useful. and maby that is what God is saying to use many times, "NO NOT NOW OR WAIT" till you are older, bigger or wizer or better or stronger wether it be spiritual or physical.
Ever stop to think that if God would give us everything we wanted , we could rule the world! and beloved our Lord knows we are not capable of that.
Many of you are now going through you garden of Gethsemane you are in deep agony in prayer many tears are and have been falling. Satan wants you to give up, and says "whats the use" But you must follow your fathers will and keep praying because soon you will receive a answer. and the answer maby wait, no, or he could be working through someone or something to bless you, so please hold on to his truths, because true prayer never goes unanswered.
I never will forget the time my youngest son "fell of the book shelf" so to speak, In 6 mo time he went from cool clean dressed 17 year old honer student, leader of a high school Christian organization, to a boy heavely mixed up in Satanizum and the whole Goth seen. Wearing black, painting his face white with died black hair and wearing red lip stick. needless to say this was a shock for my wife and I.
So I had to seek Gods guidance "GOD WHAT DO I DO" I ask God "WHERE DO I GO TO RESIGN FROM BEING A DAD" Because this hurts. He gently told me "follow me do as I SAY" and he will return. So he told me to pray with my son before I went to work, while he is still sleeping, this was new to me I felt awkward but I did it anyway, My son would look up and see me sometimes and go back to sleep, I didn think God knew what he was talking about, but I KEPT IT UP.
Then God told me to pray for other parents that are going through the same things that we are going through. and not to pray for my son at all, for now. so I didnt, I can see now this was done out of not being selfish for my son only. I was not to preach at him or condem him, just let My Lord handle it. So many times we as parents want to interfear with the Lords will. I had to bite my toungue, but I listen because I was reading some of his letters and he was contemplating suicide. I then had to have faith and believe because I WAS GETTING SCARED. I couldnt tell my wife for I know she couldnt handle it. So I had my Garden of Gethemane, talking about tears, pain and sleepless nights.
And then one evening my wife and I were watching TV our son came in and wanted to ask us a question, he said Mom and Dad would you mind if I came back home, I am sick of this. I couldnt answer I started bawling like a baby. for God answered my prayer not by my ways but by his, this was approx a two year ordeal
He soon got married now has a baby boy, and he leads a Church home group of 15 people.
My wife ask him once on how the Lord was dealing with him During this dark time and he said "when I would see Dad praying for me in the morning before I would go to school that was hard to handle, all day long it was on my mind" also Dad being so strict and seeing him not condeming me but loving made me feel if my dad could accept me back...so could my Lord!.
I type this because maby someone here is ready to give up, from experience "DONT", listen, and you will here your Lords voice, Satan is resisting, but he will soon fail and victory will be yours....Lord Bless

In our belief as Christians we know that God takes great delight in answering righteous prayers from those that trust in Him.

I think that sometimes people think that their prayers haven't been answered because they didn't get exactly what they prayed for, when they wanted it. Do we have any right to dictate to God on HOW to answer our prayers? Righteous prayers are always acted upon according to His gracious will. God has a plan for each of our lives, and through His great love for us determines the best way to nurture us.

I agree with FireCat that Satan fears our prayers to God, and will do anything to deceive us into thinking that they haven't been or will not be answered. If he can get us to stop praying to the point that we question our faith and God's will, he has accomplished his goal. To steal the soul of one of God's beloved children is his ultimate victory.

When we pray we can be sure that the prayers have been heard and will be answered. We have to be patient and look for results that glorify the Lords will and not our own personal wants. God love's it when we pray to Him and takes great pleasure in blessing us with His grace. :hearton:

1 John 5 14-15........"Now have this confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He will hear us. And if we know that He hears us, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him."

There is no special power with prayer. Sure God may be listen’ but that don’t mean he needs to act on it at all. Most pray most of the time all about themselves any how. I need this, I need that… If that is all I talked to my own dad about he may listen and all but he would not be doin all I asked. I do not think satan stops the prayer. We are spoiled kids wanting more and more from the big guy. IMO thats what I have seen most often about christians they talk about being “Christ-like” but they are foolin’ themselves cause JC was not soooo worred about himself like we are. At least I can admit it. I am kinda selfish most chistians can’t admit that. Most prayer is if we are honest selfish.

my prayers are pretty much in 3 categories and are distributed 45%-45%-10%.45% goes for prayers for others.45% goes for prayers of thanks and 10% goes for asking for "help".I try to only pray for "help" for myself as a last resort, only if I have and am doing all in my power to overcome something will my Gods even consider lending a hand.the Aesir are not the kind of Gods to give help to someone looking for an easy way around a problem, they expect me too do all in my power to make it through this life, then and only then would they consider divine intervention.
when praying for others I pray that the Gods/God that they follow will answer the prayers being said for that indvidual.
most of all I love giving prayers of thanks, even on some of our worst days there's something to give thanks for,I "try" to always Hail the Gods with thanks on my lips and in my heart.

Many times I see Christian brothers hurting because they have been told "there is sin in their lives because of unanswered prayer" nothing can be futher from the truth. we all have sin in our lives.
Our loving God is very sensitive to our prayers, Jesus himself depended upon prayer. And he prayed that if God so willed , the "CUP" of suffering might pass, but it did not!, NO! there was no sin in his life, because there was a higher pourpose to be served (Heb 5, 8-9).
Christ taught that the father lovingly listens to us, but remember this does not mean that we are immune the the commom difficulties of life, if that were the case no child of God would ever die!.
If we could only see behind the seens , so to speek, we might understand that what is now a, thought to be, situation that is quite bad from our limited insight, may turn out to be quite good in the final analysis.
We must remember dear Beloved that we are not in this for the "MONEY" like so many TV preachers would like you to hear. We are citizens of a planet cursed by evil, and we, like others are not amune to its hardships. Prayer will provide the Christian with comfort and the strength to endure, but it dosent exempt us from trials.
Just remember we are not the first to struggle with the hardships, and crushing blows to our lives. The early Saints were confronted as we are and sometimes maby more, and yet they maintained their strong faith.
Keep sending thoes prayers beloved our Lord is forever faithful....Lord Bless

1 John 5:14-15
14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him.
NIV
The whole key as I see it is in verse 14 The key words are "ACCORDING TO HIS WILL"
Good post firecat.

My prayers every night consist of this...

I pray for thanks, thanks for allowing me to live and have a great day and allowing me to do what I do. I also pray for help with my school, work, and the girl that is always on my mind lately that is a christian as well.

A short story...

I meet with my pastor once a week and I was talking with him about finding a christian girl. Well we prayed about it together and then i prayed about it later that day. Within a day it happened. I had found a christian girl and my prayers had been answered. That was the first time my prayers had been answered within a matter of no time. Thats when i finally realized and believed in myself that god answers prayers all in different times.
