I knew this could happen, and probably would.
The doc told me to watch out for this. I promised myself it wouldn't happen to me.
It has.
I take pills twice a day. Alot of them, and they are serious pills that do serious stuff.
Anyhow, if I forget if I took them or not, I lose, either way I choose to go.
If I took them, and forgot, and take them again, then I double dose and risk two things. A double dose of coumadin that raises my INR to dangerous levels that could cause me to bleed out with the slightest bruise, and
2. a double dose of beta blockers that could slow my heart to a dangerously low rate.
If I forgot if I took them, anc choose to believe I did, and not take them, I risk:
Going dangerously low on coumadin which will thicken my blood to dangerous levels, and my valve could clot.
and
2. My heart rate could raise to dangerous levels and I could rupture my dissection.
Well, I chose to believe I did not take them, and took another dose.
I guess we'll see! Even if this doesn't make sense, can you just pray that I will be calm about it? I'm certain that my worry over it is far more dangerous that what might happen by missing, or doubling the dose!
this isn't fun, though. :depressed:
Thank you!
Jen
I am confident our Father will watch over you and you did the right thing. Take faith in his guidance and leave the worry to him ... it's in his hands and you will be fine.

I have a very similar dilema...I know what you are feeling.
Just relax and keep your spirits calm. You know yourself, just keep an eye out. :flowered:

Hi Jennie!
It looks like there's a few of us in the same boat with medication!
I have to take 3 pills twice a day and I agree it isn't any fun and the side effects are unpleasant to say the least. Since the dosage and timing are very important, the doctor gave me a dispenser that lists the days of the week from Sunday through Saturday and has an AM and PM hatch for each day on it. If I don't remember if I took the pills, it's just a matter of checking the dispenser. And I do sometimes forget!
The doctor's going to start tapering me off this medication and try something different next week. The anemia and fatigue have become worse as time's gone on, though I've thankfully been without internal infections for the last year.
I'll keep you and WyldHen both in my prayers.

Thank you so much! I love Wyldhens graphic. May I borrow it? I have times that I could use that! (Both the prayer and the graphic!)
I have that dispenser, too! The problem is is that I filled it, and Friday was filled, so I assumed Saturday was, too. So, when I got to Saturday... anyhow... I messed up on filling it, so I didn't know.
I'm thinking of adding one of those old lady pill alarms to it!
I'm feeling fine so far, so we'll see!
I am more calm. The light of day always helps! Last night I was typing on my laptop, and I've corrected my errors. (I can't see the dang screen on that tiny thing!)
Dullhook, you should talk to your doc about Provigil, if you remain on pills that make you sleepy.
It's a drug that helps people stay awake that are on sleepy drugs. Beta blockers, etc.
Too bad when you have to take a drug for a drug! Ach!
Anyway, all of your prayers helped me to be calm and to sleep! Thank you! That's what the anglers chapel is all about to me!
Someone accused me of not letting people of all faiths be on the chapel. That is the furthest from the truth! That's EXACTLY what I want! I just don't want people fighting about why their way is the ONLY way.
My God is very personal to me. IMHO, Prayer, in any form and in your own personal form is what is best to help any individual. Everyone can pray in their way for someone else and the person receiving it can believe and receive it in their way. Isn't that awesome?
Oh.... Our God is an awesome God!
Jen
(And all morning, this has been going through my head! This may not be your way, but it's mine!)

Our God is an awesome God

He reigns from heaven above

With wisdom, power, and love

This is my Father's world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
his hand the wonders wrought.
This is my Father's world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
he shines in all that's fair;
in the rustling grass I hear him pass;
he speaks to me everywhere.
This is my Father's world.
O let me ne'er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!

Thing is... I DON'T know myself yet.
I am still in the learning stages of what things feel like.
I kind of know what it's like to OD on coumadin. Been there, done that. That's yucky!
And I kind of know what it's like to be low on Beta Blockers. My heart valve just races!
But, I am just learning! I'm only 14 months into this whole new world of pills!

prayers to ya kiddo...
FWIW, I have been in a similar situation numerous times... I usually wait, if I have missed my beta blocker I get a weird fluttery feeling in my chest within a couple hours of when I usually should have taken it...

Jen, God plants firmly in your heart the answers, it's only when we depend on ourselves that we become confused. Go with your instinct, which is God speaking to you and your worries will be lifted.
Blessings,

My Dad Who Is an MS patient Goes through similar instances as you. I have seen him in his lows and I couldnt imagine what He goes through or what you must be going thorugh. I have grown Up in a church and Prayer is definatly the strongest thing that can be done to help anyone. I will continue to pray for my father as well as you.
