Around us every day are people in pain. Physical pain. Emotional pain. Financial pain. Spiritual pain. Many people live with their pain as a daily companion, often for a very long time. The effects of pain can be profound, even to the point of preventing recovery. Or the pain may in fact not be something that can be resolved. But I offer this prayer, that our Lord Above will have mercy on those of us who suffer pain and ease that pain, and help show a way to past it. Accept our plea for an end to the suffering Father and shepherd us to your light. Amen.

James 1:2-4
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds ( Pain is one of many ), 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
NIV
At good Shephard CC we have been studing the book of James and also in our home bible study groups. In our small group we have spent the last 4 weeks in the first Chap. of James and just finished it tonight. This first Chap. is very powerful and compelling.

I agree DAB, The Epistle Of James is great reading and is really inspirational regarding genuine faith and how it applies to the trials we all face. Before we actually started studying this book, I assumed that it was written by the apostle James . But in fact since he died in A.D. 44; we know that it was written by James, the brother of Jesus, who was also a leader in the Council of Jerusalem (Acts 15:13). These passages are really inspiring!

The Prayer of Faith, James 5 13-15:

"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned he will be forgiven."
