Here's the pickled squid recipe that was given to me by another Ifisher a couple of years ago:

Pickled Squid

2 cups white vinegar
2 Tbls. sugar
2 Tbls. non-iodized salt
2 Tbls. pickling spice
1/2 bottle Mikes Herring Oil
Fresh or frozen squid.

Mix together and add squid, making sure it is completely covered by the brine. Let sit in refrigerator for a few days. Since the oil separates from the liquids, you will need to mix occasionally.

Thanks for sharing!

Would this be for bait or food? Wouldn't pickled squid be really chewy?

Uh... unless you like Mike's herring oil on your plate of squid, I believe this is for bait.

Leave out the herring oil and you could eat it !! It also works for smelt, shad strips or whatever else you may want to pickle!!
