Is there an oil filter on a Honda 8HP motor? If there is, where is it hidden? I have a 2000 model and can't find it if there is... :help:

OOPS! I guess I should read closer, didn't realize it was 2000 model. My 1995 doesn't have an oil filter.

Sorry for the mis-information.

2000 or so The oil filter is on the right side down about three inches below when you take the top cover off.

I think the cowlings have to come off for easier access. They do on my 15 hp.

OK I still cannot find where the oil filter is on this motor. There is no cover on the right hand side or the left hand side of the motor under the cowling. No screws to undo..... I am at a loss. The serial # starts with BZBC, so I don't know if this particular model has a filter or not...? :help:

I will take it back into the local dealer and see if I can ask the question without it costing me an hour labor. :passout: I was going to start doing all my own maintenance this year, but this one has me stumped.

If anybody has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

NO... I am an idiot. I do not have a 2000 model. I have a 99 Honda BF8, which has no filter. According the local dealer, the redesigned 8 HP engine with the filter went on the market for the 2000 model.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
