Thursday I went out of Garibaldi after coho/salmon. Only saw about 6 boats out of this harbor sport fishing. Jeff at Garbaldi Marina told me "they are catching a few between 2 and 5 miles out, but it was slow". I fished between 2 and 4 miles for about 4 hours and never saw a fish. Felt like a ping pong ball in a lottery machine. Some days are not meant to be fished in the ocean. My trolling may have looked more like a jigging presentation. Talked to 4 boats who all said fishing was terrible. The word was to head for Newport, its hot.
Crabbing was better than average in the bay, we picked up 124 legal crabs in 4 days.
Spent a few hours fishing the painted rock near Lysters Tackle and we got 15 nice greenlings on sandshrimp.
