You need to provide more info but......
Yes, you can buy a new transducer if they still make your model. However, it could also be your head unit. What are you seeing (blank screen, screen clutter, not holding bottom, etc.)? You can fry the transducer if it is run, out of the water, for extended periods of time.

The screen looks fin but it does not read depth of fish ao anything. I think my 7 year old truned it on while it was sitting in the drive way. Is there a good place to take it and get it fixed??

Best option is to find someone with the same or compatible unit on their boat, so you can plug into their transducer and power and see if you get a good depth reading (proving that you just need a new transducer). If your unit doesn't work with their transducer, you're probably toast. If it does work, then it's cheap and easy to replace most transducers. What brand and model is it?

Sounds to me like an excuse to upgrade! (And for not much more than the price of a repair job.) Larry

:yeahthat:
I would talk to Rodgers Marine, off of Marine Drive, to see about repair options. If the unit is more than 3-4 years old, however, it might be time to upgrade.

Most units will have a "self test" mode, if you know where/how to find it, it will be able to tell you what the problem is, if it requires repair and isn't still under warranty, buy something new, most companies charge as much for repairs as they do for a newer, more current unit.
