Well, tomorrow I'm on a plane to where the the ignorant, unwashed masses don't know what a steelhead is, and think that salmon come from restaurants. My (former) employer was kind enough to give me a big going away party, four days off at the end of my two week notice, and pay for a trip to the coast for me and my family, so I oughta tell you how it was. I didn't do any fishing, but we did do some crabbing this morning. We were at the pier at the South Marina in Newport. Lots of female dungeness that had to be released, no keepers. I think the keepers have pretty much been picked through there. We saw A LOT of boats coming in early after getting their limits of salmon. From the people I talked to, the fishing was pretty incredible. If I hadn't been spending time with my wife and kids before I leave, I would have definitely been in on it, but I had more important things.

So I'm out of here tomorrow morning. You guys have to pick up the slack for me now. Somebody else has to harass the fish. It's gotta be done. I've taught two of my employees to fish steelhead. If you see Jose or Kelly, they better have fish, and if they don't, let me know!

Same for me down there this week HB. I knew they were hammering big schools of salmon out there, but I was "lashed down with priorities". Best wishes for you and family in your new venture. Stay with us on the BB here so you know what you're missing http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif . - Steve
