This weekend I am taking some of my grandkids camping on the lower Siletz. What is good to fish for down there with the kids. Would it be better to take them up to Devil's Lake or somewhere else? The kids are young.
Thanks

Seems like it's always better to take younger kids to somewhere they can keep the fish. We were at Lincoln City 2 weekends ago. They were doing pretty good off the dock at the city park for trout. Powerbait (Green or Orange). One guy was using Powerbait/nightcrawler combination. They were all nice-size fish, 11-14 inches.

Turn east at the Copeland Lumber store, keep going till you see the park. Get there as early as possible, to beat the jetski maniacs. The bite is normally better early as well.

Good Luck!!

I did kayak from Siletz to Morgan Park last wednesday, I thru in a pole of coarse and caught about 20 trout and one blueback. I saw very few steelhead. The slot about Morgan boat ramp was full of fish but you need a boat to fish it. Wak'm and hide'm if you dont want busted though.

For a fishin' trip involving little kids, I would agree that Devil's Lake is probably the best option. I think the fishin' is pretty good off the dock and when they get bored, the park has a big playground with lot's of equipment to recharge their enthusiasm. You might check the synopsis but I'm pretty sure the trout have to be adipose fin clipped in order to keep them. Have fun!
