Hey guys, I am not a local but one who is living in Sacramento, CA. I often read the post on this site and I am amazed of the great information shared.

Here is my question: On most of the photos of the boats it seems that most of you store your boats with the top up and side curtains attached. It would seem to me that they would last much longer if they were wrapped around the supprots and stored. I have an 98 Alumaweld and my top is in great shape but I never store it with the top up. In fact, I have never used the side curtains or even had the back drops on. Thanks in advance.

It depends on the strength of the top. Some brands are strong enough to leave up all of the time. If your manufacturer doesn't recommend it, then you shouldn't tow that way or store that way.

I had a storage and tow cover made for my boat and it works just great. From where I live it is a pretty good freeway drive to most of the salt and fresh water launches. If I left the canvas up it would get tore up in no time at all at freeway speeds. As a result, my canvas is in great shape. However, it is a pain in the rear to have to put up all of the canvas before launching. So most of the time I just put the top up and dress warm, unless I am staying for a few days.

your top will shrink, and if you store it with it up and buttoned it will help prevent it from shrinking, this is important with a wet top .
at least this is what ive allways thought when storing my boat
