Got a report from a friend who fishes Drano Lake. He said that Saturday was "hot", but it shut off Sunday morning. They normally begin fluctuating the water levels around then, to prepare for Monday morning power use, I guess.

Anyway, he got one early Sunday morning. He's using the bait shrimp (not sand shrimp!!) suspended under a bobber. I don't know any of the specifics, but I'm planning on fishing with him on Sunday or Monday to find out.

B.T.W., for Oregon fisherpeople, if you've never fished for steelhead at night, you're missing out. Having a fish yarding out line and jumping/splashing in pitch blackness is an incredible rush.

Drano is a good place for that, but there are many in Wash. where night time steelheading is allowed. Try trolling or casting the glo-in-the-dark standard Warts too. Vortex lures out of Kalispel, Montana makes some good plugs that have tiny batteries in them for both elumination and different harmonic noices for attraction. - Q: How do ya know you weren't just dreaming? - RT

Another update from Drano. Same guy with two buddies got 5 hatchery fish on Monday(24th), had several other takedowns. Using the regular shrimp under bobbers....three of the fish were around 10 lbs, and caught between 1 & 2:30 in the afternoon.
