I feel compelled to make some comments and more suggestions about our Ifish decal design decisions. I read Jen's latest post, saw the new submission, and the replys within. First, for the record, when anybody asks for my honest opinion I will give exactly that. The exception is if I feel that it could hurt someone's feelings then I will decline to give one rather than be less than honest. Judging when it could is difficult though. Second, I am suprised at how passonate many people are about this decal process. To me it shows that people have pride in Ifish and their boats too. That's good. Third, I think that us passionate members need to lighten up a good sized notch about the whole thing! This isn't newlyweds disagreeing about whether to have kids or not! It's about having a nice looking idenity decal. Not such a big deal, especially when the one decided on will undoubtably be just fine, even if not perfect (which is an impossibility)! Too many perfectionists here with inevitable different preferences, including me. - One issue clarification. Since Zaq has his signiture on his driftboat drawing submission I understand the legal advice Jen got to have Zaq sign a simple waiver for any personal copyrights or financial gain, because Ifish is growing fast and could well become the biggest regional fishing website, and it won't be because of things we put in a decal. Shouldn't be a prob anyway because all you've requested is credit for your drawings. And Marty hasn't requested anything for his free generous refinement contributions. For whatever it's worth, I've offered to take these good guys fishing in my sled with all expenses on me for their efforts. We appreciate you two very much! - The next issue is the 2 candidates, Zaq and Marty's latest one and Jen's neice's, may need further refinement to placate more people. Particularly the neice's judging by the feedback in most replys; even though it is fine professional art. I think we have enough time. I will give some "perfectionist" suggestions for Marty to further refine his latest revision (I really hope you will see this thing thru Marty, but if you're growing weary of it by now I would certainly understand that, and we would need tech help people). Here goes: Starting with the latest one with the wavy straight line to the fish (that's not a kite MM, it's a good fisherman keeping the slack out of the line so the fish doesn't shake the hook out), change the lettering font to be more easily readable from a distance. I suggest going with darker bolder less fancy font, and make the URL letters small case as used for net access. Keep the F & C capped in the upper logo. Jen has suggested centering them. Lower the boat about 1/8". Lower the trees 1/8" and move them 1/4" to the right. Very lightly fill in the upper body of the fisherman figure to appear like a jacket (Zaq will like that). Reduce the size of the fish by about 10 percent. It's a great looking fish but is just a tad too big in relation to the boat in the background. Add just a couple more very small water looking brush strokes in the area between the "port" side of the boat and the rightside w in the URL. I think this decal would look very good in black and white, judging by my printout. If we color it, I suggest the light green (or perhaps bluish green) for the water brush strokes, "tree" green for those, and heavy dark green for the bold lettering; with the white background and black or dark green outer circle. Probable best size is the 6" diameter. With these tweaks I think a majority of members will like the design plenty! Seems most do already? Since this post has gotten so long I will post some suggestions for the neice's decal in the following reply post. Any opinions or other suggestions are more than welcome. Feel good if they are used and don't be disappointed if they aren't. I won't be, because I know whatever we come up with will be nice and serve it's intended purpose. - Steve
