what are your favorite words of inspiration, for whatever occasion?? one for me that brings me comfort is:
Lo, there do I see my father
Lo, there do I see my mother
My sisters and my Brothers
Lo,there do I see my people
back to the beginning
Lo, there do they call to me and bid me
to take my place in the halls of Valhalla
where the brave may live forever.

That was beautiful Bartman! :hearton:

Mine is a common favorite, I know. But it brings special memories to me in my family and my marriage. :smirk:

1 Corinthians 13
Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, (love) is not pompous, it is not inflated,

it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.

It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails. If there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; if tongues, they will cease; if knowledge, it will be brought to nothing.

For we know partially and we prophesy partially, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.

When I was a child, I used to talk as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I put aside childish things.

At present we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. At present I know partially; then I shall know fully, as I am fully known.

So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Excellent post Bartman! This is the type of thing that allows us to better understand each other.

I've posted this poem before but would like to do it again because it means so very much to me. A few years ago before I turned my life over to Christ and began to study the Bible, I was completely out of control. I questioned my existence on earth and couldn't find any peace or happiness no matter what I did. This is just a very simple poem written by Russell Kelfer, but it applies to every person of any faith, or even the faithless like I used to be. It shows how very special all of us are to God, and how all of us do matter to Him. :hearton:

"You are who you are for a reason.

You're part of an intricate plan.

You're a precious and perfect unique design,

Called God's special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.

Our God made no mistake.

He knit you together within the womb,

You're just what He wanted to make.

The parents you had were the one's He chose,

And no matter how you may feel,

They were custom-designed with God's plan in mind,

And they bear the Master's seal.

No, that trauma you faced was not easy.

And God wept that it hurt you so;

But it was allowed to shape your heart

So that into His likeness you'd grow.

You are who you are for a reason,

You've been formed by the Master's rod.

You are who you are, beloved,

Because there is a God!"

My absolute favourite prayer is Peter's - when he stepped out on the water to walk to Jesus. When he looked away from HIm and started to sink he called out "Save me, Lord!" I say that a lot when I get caught up in frustrations. It says it all for me...especially when I'm too flustered to remember a fitting verse. lol

Hold your rods up high boys , keep your waders dry .
Until you reach that great pea gravel drift up in the sky.

Psalms 23

23:1 A psalm of David.

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul.He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil;my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

what Jesus said to the repentant thief on the cross gives me hope

'I assure you, before this day is over, you will be with me in Heaven'

and with Mary Magdalene

'Let whoever is without sin throw the first stone'
