Me and a friend of mine(b-bouncer)from bobs BB are making the upper drift on the nooch tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has heard how the nooch has been fishing.

Haven't heard anything lately TM, but the run was expected to be a good one this year, so there should be worthwhile numbers of steelhead. If you don't mind, let us know a couple things if you go there. How the summer run is doing. And what the latest is with the boat crowding controversy; driftboats vs sleds on the middle sections above Black Creek. I'd guess it is much more a problem in the fall and winter than now, but I'm curious about the status these days. Thanks. - RT

Yeah, it's a bit early still for the steelie runs. Hey RT, it's never a problem floating the Nooch in a cat. Had my cat down last week filled to rim with people, dogs, and cargo and floated it no problem. Didn't have to walk it once. Actually you're correct RT, there's rarely a problem this time of year with sleds. In fact, I've only seen a sled on the Nooch in the summer maybe 3 or 4 times in the 20 years I've fished it. Actually, the drift from crossover bridge to black creek seems to be rarely done during the summer. Usually people do the uppermost float that Timberman did. Probably reason most won't do it is that the last 2-3 miles of the float to Black Creek is flat currentless water. You spend most of your time oaring forward then drifting. Luckily I pull out at my Dad's property and cut the drift short. That way no wasted energy.
