Hi Mike. Of course you already know about floatfishing eggs and casting spinners from shore to fish tidewater. The Kwikfish can be deadly if you have the room to fish them. Use about a 45" leader and put banana sinkers with swivels on both ends between the leader and main line. Anywhere from 3/4 oz. up to 2 oz. weights, depending on depth and tidal current speed. Cast across at a 45 deg. angle down across the current, let it sink a couple seconds, and then do a real slow retrieve with medium action on the lure. Try to keep the rodtip extended out over the water to keep the lure in holding water longer. Hard hits are common! K-14's if the water is clear, and the K-15 &/or 16's with water colored. Let us know how it works, if the fish are in there of course. - Steve

Oh Obywon Emucanoby,I need you help here.( thats you RT) http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I'm looking for suggestions on tidewater fishing for Kings mainly what I'm looking for is casting kwikfish in tide water for these bruts,I know the sardine or herring wrap will help a lot here do you suggest any added weight also .Weve been casting from shore and the tides are improving this week so there is a chance that I will take the cat out and increase my fishing area nothing like being towed around by a king on a cataraft http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I've been experimenting with bait under a float mostly herring till now I'm gonna try eggs later this week too. this way I can practice for that Tillamook fishery this fall
Thanks Steve

Thanks Steve,I will try that ,the reason to swivel both ends of the connection is to prevent twists? The tides are improving all week so I will be hitting it hard thursday thru Sunday ,the wife is'nt due back till late Monday so I'm a fishin fool as long as I keep up my yard work http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Hey the diet is going great since their is no one to feed me I'm down 4lbs since monday ...must be all the yard work either that or it's the lite beer http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif thanks Pal

Os, I put a snap at both ends of the leader, and at the end of the mainline, for quick changes of amount of cresent sinker weight and of Kwikfish and spinner sizes and colors. It might also help prevent line twist too in some cases. Let me know how it's going on the Nis. Tight lines bud. - Steve - Oh ya, if the tidewater area you're fishing is snaggy use about a 20" dropper and longer 50" leader (24" dropper when using the deeper diving K-16 or Flatfish T-50). Just barely ticking the lead every few feet will let you know you are in the best zone (as with trolling); and when the lead ticks harder, lift the rodtip high for a couple reel cranks so as to snag up less often. I also use light dropper line so the lead will break off if it snags up solid; can save the lure.

It's called Cravex Plus. It is the only fish biologist developed feeding stimulant that's genuine and somewhat effective for Kings in slow water applications (such as holed up tidewater fish). It was developed to bring large and small aquarium fish out of transfer shock and start eating again. Dang! That's one of the secrets I was saving for my book. I have told only a few fishing buddies about this. Thanks anyway http://www.ifish.net/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif . - RT

RT, I’ll add that to my reference book, and try to keep the Emus out of the boat.

Hey Hairball, as you can see, the Cravex can attract unusual creatures other than fish; including the dreaded emu. - Fishslayer, most mainstem rivers have a good tidewater area (where freshwater meets saltwater) that Kings will stack in before rains raise the rivers. It's still a good place to fish after the rivers come up too. A lot of fishers are now using the modern superbraid lines (such as Tufline) because they float and mend better for bobber fishing, and their thin diameter helps plugs and flatlined Kwikfish/Flatfish dive deeper. - RT
