Okay I will be fishing for some Bass in a pond this Friday and was wondering if you think it will be any good yet? It holds largemouth bass and normally is probobly no more than 12 feet deep (that is just a guess). I am getting the urge for spring bass. What gear should I start with plugs senkos spinners topwater? This is my first prespawn bass season or spring for that matter so any help is great.

Water is still cold. It'll be slow.
Stick with slow presentations....plastics!
check out the January Reports thread.

Ya like hunt n fish said the water was still real cold on sunday, even in the small pond I was fishing, and this week of cold weather isnt going to help either. I would stick to fishing slow plastics on the bottom.

Black n Blue JIGS. The bass I have caught have been on slow but medium/large presentations. Maybe a 3in senko would work *like it always does* but a jig is a more hearty meal for a slow lazy bass

How much longer indeed!!!! I can't wait to go bass fishing again. It's driving me crazy. My problem, of course, is that I don't have very far to go. :bricks:

I agree the water needs to warm a bunch but we have been catching a few small mouth near Irrigon. We have been fishing for Walleye but the worm tipped jig my daughter has been using is catching a few here and there so I guess it is possible.

I suppose if you are patient you may run across a few bass, but it will probably be like hauling in a wet sock. But, it is nice to get down to the water if you aren't into steel.
