I have an 18' Alumaweld SemiVee inboard. It weighs in around 4000# wet. I have trailered it for 15 years without trailer brakes but old age may slow my reflexes down when a deer jumps out in front of me. What is the best route to go for putting surge brakes on this single axle trailer. Who does a good job installing? Or should I just keep on trucking??

Redhawk- This can really depend on what you are towing it with. Towing with a 3/4 ton heavy duty with large brakes, I'd say keep on trucking. Towing with a light duty rig, then the brakes are a nice option to not push your stern around if you need to hit the stoppers.

There are a number of independent trailer guys that can install and actuator and brakes. It is really a pretty simple deal so don't let anyone get carried away with charging an arm and a leg.
