Guys,
I'm looking at a new Seahawk, but it comes with a Suzuki 115. Is this enough power? I see myself in the Willamette, Columbia and Tillamook Bay for now. Maybe the salt after I feel more comfortable. Any other suggestions would be helpful.

What is the length?
I have a 21' Seahawk with a 150 Yami. She has enough power to put a smile on my face but I wouldn't go with anything less for a boat like mine :twocents:

my friend has a 19' Seahawk with a 115 Yami 2 Stroke and it does great for most everything...it's a 2000...think they stopped making the 19 and now have 18 and 20 +. 20 and above should have a 150 imho

I'm in the market for a Seahwak as well. According to almost all that sell them the 115 is adequate on a 20',but not overly impressive. On the 18' I think it would fly. The 21' really works well with the 150.

18' with a 115 you can expect 35-38mph WOT depending on load, imo.

20' & 21' I would go with 150
22' & 23' I would go with 200
24' I would go with 225 or dual 115
25' I would go with 250 or dual 115

I've also got a 21 with the 150. It is fine for my purposes.

I have the 22' with a 250 Yami. more than enough.
But when was the last time you heard someone say they wished they had a smaller motor?
I would go with what the boat is max-rated for.
If you got it you don't need to push it. But if you don't have it you can't use it.JMHO

:yeahthat:
It's better to have and not want, then to want and not have.

Just like my grandma says.

I'm looking at a 20' Seahawk with the off-shore bracket.

Then I would go with a 150 4 stoke.

A 115 Suzuki, should be enough for river, lakes & bays, but a little more would be advised for the ocean, I have a 115 on a 19' customweld, & it bog's a little with a heavy load, espically on the uphill side of a swell.

Test drove a 20ft Seahawk with a 115 2 stroke. Adequate with about 600+ lbs of passengers. Not sure you would be happy with 50 gals of fuel and loaded for fishing. A 140 Suzuki should only be about 900.00 more than the 115. Not sure what the 150's are going for.

Just got a 21' with a 200 seems to have more than enough power. I was going to go with the 225 but the deal was too good to refuse.

I went with the 140 Suzuki. Thanks for all of your input.

The 140 should be good. I did some testing on my Sea Runner today, with the Mercury 115 4S EFI. I was at 4300 feet, on a reservoir adjacent to the Great Salt Lake. With a 17" aluminum prop, WOT was 5700 RPM and 36.4 MPH by GPS. With a 16" stainless prop, WOT was 35.9 MPH at 5200-5300 RPM. It was amazing to me that the SS prop turned so much slower. I'm guessing that it's because there's not much flex. At sea level I expect to be near 40 MPH, which is more than you can use most of the time on the ocean. Even with a heavy load it should be plenty fast.

Your hull is listed at 1750#, vs 1575# for mine. Depending on load, the 115 HP should have been fine for your boat. It's displacement is ~200cc more than Mercury's 115, so it should have more torque. But you shouldn't pay any fuel penalty for the larger motor. Sounds like an excellent combination. Let us know how it performs.

I have a 20' Seahawk w/offshore braket and the 150 Yamaha 4 stroke. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Just the right amount of power regardless of the load. She does about 40-45MPH.
