I have a 2003 Honda 225 outboard, I stopped at that floating Honda dealer in Oregon City today to pick up a new oil filter for the boat and a set of spark plugs getting ready for spring. I expected to pay around $5 for the filter, and $3 or $4 for a spark plug which is twice what its worth.
I had to pay $10 for the oil filter :hoboy: and they wanted $19 per spark plug :bigshock: :bigshock: :bigshock: :bigshock: and I need 6 of them.
I decided maybe I didnt need to change the plugs quite yet :noway: :noway: :noway:
Where can a person get parts at a reasonable price? $19 per spark plug is just rediculous, I stopped at Baxters on the way home and they doubted they could cross reference any plug for an outboard.
I stopped at FMS looking for Racor fuel filter and they didnt have my number in stock, so I am shopping for one of those also.
Anybody got any locations where I can get the correct outboard part the first time and not leave my first born son behind as payment?

Hi BaitOEggs
we run a suzuki as our main OB & it seems my husband has to special order the plugs & he deals with G I Joes-they are quite spendy also but nothing like the $19. you were quoted. Chances are, you may have already tried them.

If what that website is saying is the correct spark plug then the NGK plug you want is a NGK 4095. I will check with my guys in the parts biz Monday and see what my cost is. The filter can be crossed to a Wix or FRAM I am sure.

Try this place. Don't know if they do honda or not.

call them and see if they can help. I order my parts from them.
BOE...Seems to me the filter at $10.00 is resonable, thats what we pay for a Honda filter for our CR-V, that engine of yours has more CCs than ours! I tried to find a cross for the filter on my 9.9 Merc, HA..fat chance, that one is $10.00 too. Now, the plugs...that's a rip off in the highest degree, they're probably so expesive because they're some facy pants resistor plugs, or titanium something. See if Baxters can cross them to a plug with the same dimensions and heat range, only minus the resistor and fancy titanium part. With my Merc75 there was a question of whether the crossed plug would cause interferance with the electronics in the boat, no probs but I think you may have alot MORE electronics in your boat to interfere with. Anyway...Baxters brought my price for plugs down from $7.00 or so to $1.79.
The "Floating Honda Dealer" in OC will rip you off in my opinion, had a prob with them years ago and will never darken their doorstep again, try ST. Johns Honda, they used to treat me right when I had a Honda kicker.

I'm disappointed in you Roy.
I would have figured that you made your own spark plugs

I had no idea they were that much, I looked at a few places online and they are expensive plugs. I have the same motor and need to do plugs this spring also, if I find em' cheap I'll let you know. If you find em', please post back or send a message.
