I am thinking about repowering my boat as I like the setup of it (and a new boat with a new engine costs too much) but the old johnson has got to go. It is costing too much in gas and it is in the shop alot and costing way too much there too.
I am considering a honda mainly for its reliablility and finance options through honda. But I am wondering what kind of maintence cost and time will be associated with a newer fourstroke outboard. Also, was wondering what kind of fuel use too expect. I have a 23 foot proline walk-around with 109 gallon gas tank. Fully loaded with guys and gear for tuna it probably weighs around 6k.
Also, should I spring for a stainless steel prop? Is that worth it? And would the stainless steel prop I have on my 1989 225 johnson fit on the honda?
I know some of you have this motor on similar size boats and so I hope for some input.
Thanks,
Luke
