I know it's probably too early to fish, but it's never too early to ask, so does anyone one have any info on Sunset Lake just north of Gearhart, on the coast. Some info on Cullaby would be helpful also.
Thanks in advance

Fish the bridge pilings!!!! Also try the area around the boat ramp. Also if any pads (this time of year) are around fish the out side edge.

Sunset has some decent fish in it- they can be tough to catch! This is one of the most difficult Lakes to fish in the state in my opinion. It will take a long time to find the breaks and irregular bottom contours which is what you need to do as there are no points or small coves, etc. It is just one long, narrow lake. The shorleine is VERY shallow and the lake gets choked with weeds very early so the deep water game is a good thing to have. Last year I caught one over eight and the year before I got eleven fish in two days for 55 pounds- this doesn't happen often at Sunset, though- at least not to me. Dave

sunset is a hard lake to fish, but has some great fish. I like the north end but have had the biggest fish come from the far weedy south end.
Once, I had just launched a small cartop and made my first cast about 25 feet from the launch and a big hawg hit my worm. I got him to the boat and was reaching for him and "twang" the worm went flying straight back in my face. He was over six and fat but, he just slipped back down and went on his way. Oh well he was there and I will always remember that fish (except my wife sez that my mind is going, so I will probably forget that fish).
The launch is not the best unless in recent times it has been fixed. The RV park is fair and right near the launch area.
