Just curious how much buying a lower unit prop would cost to install on a 95 merc 200/140 jet? Is there any coast gaurd implications with exceeding the hp rating on the stamp because it would be prop not a jet? Thanks guys

I had my 98 Merc 200 offshore Jet done a few months ago and it ran me about $2900. The parts alone was in the area of $2000. But, I tell you, it's pretty scary how much faster you can go. I mainly did it because I normally hit the ocean and the extra power is needed along with the better fuel economy. HT

look for a used lower unit, or new. Dont know if they swap out or not. I did mine and my economy went through the roof. I have a 05 150 merc 2 stroke(carb), and the prop is scary fast

if you were to get the parts for this is this something that you could do in your own garage without to much worry?

Yes, several guys on the forum do this themselves. An hour or two on the swap out. If I was to go back to a sled, I'd definately have both a pump and a prop.
